Hamilton Arts has been a long time in the making. Any creative journey is a lifetime of effort, experience, input… Lots of false starts, lots of experimentation, lots of.. well.. life… to arrive at where it is now.

Photography, music, writing, cartooning …. the creative journey is on going.

Fitness, sport, music, cars, romance, emotional turmoil… plus of course a strong sense of justice and a fairly strong stance on the world and where it’s going – just a few of the themes covered.

Touchy feely, gritty, layered, multifaceted messages that can often be interpreted on so many levels. Little observational nuggets, close to the heart, that we can all relate to even if hard at times. A strong use of words, and titling to point the viewer in the right direction – the words sometimes as much a part of the process as the visuals…

Lots of influences, especially from the dynamic ‘in yer face’ world of Street Art! The constant change, the evolution, the layering, the appearing, the disappearing…. the many hands involved in any given freeze frame of any given wall or surface at any moment in time. That sense that if you come back tomorrow all could be changed. A little bit of that in many of his pieces.

INFLUENCES

Specific influences? Banksy of course, Blek de Rat, Stik…. Plus the obvious of course from art history…. Basquiat, Dali, Picasso, and the many many contemporary artists out there on social media, doing and sharing their thing.

Other recognisable names with an influence worthy of acknowledgement….. Gerard Scarfe, Quentin Blake, Shirley Hughes, Charlie Makesy… to name but a few.
